Additional Notes: “Can Ya’ Hear Me Now?” was originally written as a stage play by Denise Treadwell. The play first took place on a small stage at Women in Distress in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was also performed at the beautiful, Lou Rawls Center for Performing Arts, located at Florida Memorial University in 2005. A few years later, Ade’ Knight sought out formatting the stage play into a screenplay. She pitched the idea to Ms. Treadwell and with some guidance on the basic format of a screenplay from a seasoned filmmaker, Norton Rodriguez, Ms. Treadwell cranked out the script in no time! “Can Ya’ Hear Me Now?” was orchestrated by God. Producer and director, Ade’ Knight, moved when God told her to move, which explains why this feature film came into fruition in a very non-conventional way. After the script was completed, it was a short window of time before (still under God’s step-by-step instructions) everything came together (holding auditions, securing roles, seeking out film production companies, table reads, scouting locations, and finally shooting scenes-and in that order). “Can Ya’ Hear Me Now?” was filmed in South Florida. Treadwell Productions believes that God is the source and He will send the resources. That He did! He sent talented artists who graciously donated quality lyrical music and instrumentals for “Can Ya’ Hear Me Now?”. Local venue owners eagerly allowed Treadwell Productions to come in and shoot scenes in exchange for film credit as well. What God starts He completes. He started this project and He made sure that it was completed in the spirit of excellence. “Can Ya’ Hear Me Now?” premiered at the Cinema Paradiso in Fort Lauderdale, FL on December 8, 2012 and was also screened at the Midtown Art Cinema in Atlanta, GA on February 28, 2013.
